Do You Really Need To Reduce Cholesterol To Prevent Heart Disease?

Yes, heart disease is still the number one killer in the United States and there are still no real solutions from the pharmaceutical industry. They love to treat the symptoms, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arteriosclerosis, and heart palpitations, with synthetic drugs. Sure the drugs will thin the blood, lower blood pressure, and cholesterol but the real questions are, will this method really stop what is causing the problem in the first place and how much damage will long term use of these drugs cause?

The first thing you must understand is, if you are of average intelligence and have access to the right information, you can make informed decisions about your health. With that said, let's talk about cholesterol. To begin with cholesterol is made by the body and is an essential component of blood lipids. It is manufactured by the liver and is a precursor of steroidal hormones. In other words your body can't make hormones without cholesterol. Your brain is 78% cholesterol by weight and every cell in your body uses cholesterol to function and have structure. Fifty years ago there were no Alzheimer's patients and women went through the change of life with almost no discomfort. Could it be that a lack of cholesterol is part of these problems?

What's changed over the last three or four generations? The world-renowned biochemist, Robert R. Barefoot explains it somewhat like this. Our doctor's have brainwashed us into cutting out foods that, as it turns out, are very good for our health. Without enough cholesterol your brain will shrink and you can't make enough hormones. Alzheimer's and in some cases hormone imbalance are now becoming known as cholesterol deficiency diseases. Barefoot went on to say, eggs are one of the most important sources of cholesterol known to man. Of course your doctor tells you, "Don't eat eggs, eggs are bad for you." As it turns out not eating eggs is good for the doctors and the pharmaceutical companies.

As most of you know, I do not believe you should be vegetarian. The human body needs to have an 80% muscle to fat ratio in order to have maximum health. Meat just happens to be the most important and digestible source of protein. Muscle is made mostly of protein, cholesterol and organic sulfur (MSM). Muscle burns fat while you are sleeping. However, your doctor tells you, "don't eat meat, meat is bad for you." To them the fat can cause high cholesterol and hardening of the arteries. They assume this because when they check the plaque buildup in arteries it's made mostly of fat and cholesterol. To them it means you should reduce, or cut out all together, these God given sources of food.

Well, listen to what Dr. Kilmer McCully, Dean of Medicine discovered when doing research on heart disease. He found in thousands and thousands of people that the more acid build up a person has, around the artery walls, the more plaque they have clogging those arteries. Deciding that there must be a connection he went on to prove that the acid was causing inflammation of the blood vessel walls. This turns out to be the primary cause of heart attack and stroke. He went on to say that cholesterol has nothing to do with it. The real problem is acid, which causes the walls to become inflamed, thus reducing the amount of blood passing through the arteries. Dr. McCully is up for two noble prizes and has been given the job of teaching doctors that cholesterol has nothing to do with heart disease.

You've got to be thinking that if the plaque buildup is made of cholesterol then reducing egg and fat intake should lower cholesterol levels and in the process slow down plaque buildup, right? That may be true to a degree however it does not change the fact that both are necessary nutrients, you are not reducing the buildup that's already accumulated and you're certainly not changing what is causing the problem in the first place, acid around the artery walls. The question that should be addressed is, why are these, otherwise healthy foods, suddenly causing plaque buildup? Could it be our acid causing diets?

As most of you know there are two kinds of cholesterol, HDL and LDL. High-density or low-density lipoproteins of which the HDL is the good cholesterol and the LDL is considered bad. We get the bad cholesterol from saturated fats, margarine and processed oils like canola. It is highly recommended that you go back to eating the way God intended. Use all natural butter and olive oil in place of the man made products. Your body is perfectly capable of digesting them and then utilizing them at a cellular level not to mention the fact that eggs, butter and olive oil are rich in vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids. The latest scientific research is now showing that the average woman who takes in at least one tablespoon of animal fat daily, not man made fat, animal fat, reduce their risk of breast cancer by 100% and men who do the same reduce their risk of stroke by the same amount.

The problem is not in the fat but instead you will find the problem is the amount of acid in the body. Cola's should be avoided at all cost because they are so acidic. Please, for the future health of your children and grandchildren don't let them have even one soft drink. Alkaline holds 20 times more oxygen than acid. Acid causes swelling of the arteries, plaque buildup, gout, deterioration of bones and can damage DNA resulting in cancer. That's why it's so important to keep your body slightly alkaline.

Free radicals are another cause of heart disease. The best way to describe what a free radical is, is an oxygen molecule with only one electron band instead of two. They are caused by stress and pollution however there are many other causes. Free radicals slam into things doing a lot of damage in the process. Windshield wipers becoming brittle and paint oxidizing on your car are examples of free radical damage. In your body it's the veins and arteries that become damaged, from free radicals, causing more plaque and poor circulation. It has been proved over and over again that we should protect ourselves from the damage caused by free radicals and the answer is to take antioxidants. Antioxidants protect you the same way lemon juice will protect an apple that has been sliced in half. Coat one half of the sliced apple with lemon juice but not the other half. In one hour you will notice that the half that has no lemon will turn brown much faster. It turns brown because of the free radical damage. Notice the other half was protected from the free radical damage by the vitamin C in the lemon juice. Vitamin C is a well-known antioxidant of which there are many.

Well, I for one believe that heart disease can be avoided and even if you have already developed heart disease, plaque buildup, high blood pressure, high LDL cholesterol or any other heart or circulator disorder, you can improve and in many cases totally reverse them. When the body is working as God intended you should not develop degenerative disease and the only way that I know to keep the body healthy is to make sure you are supplying the best building materials available. Your body is constantly building new and repairing damaged cells. There are specific nutrients that are required and when they aren't available you will develop degenerative disease. By keeping your body alkaline and supplying it with the building materials it can do the necessary construction work and maintain exceptional health. Living a long vibrant passionate life depends on you being able to meet those needs.

Heart disease is a degenerative disease, in most cases, resulting from free radical damage or plaque buildup in the arteries. How do you stop the free radicals and the plaque build up without changing your entire lifestyle and possible reverse the damage that may already exists? Some change on your part will be necessary but it is minimal when you are supplying your body with proper nutrients. Most people would exercise more if they felt like it and everybody knows that the heart is a muscle. Increasing your heart rate by 20%, for thirty minutes three or four times a week, in order to make the heart stronger is a great idea only if your nutrient demands are covered. It is well known that great athletes can die of heart disease. What is interesting is that when you cover those nutrient needs first most people will then feel like exercising again.

For those of you who have developed heart disease or you are a likely candidate, because it runs in your family, there is great news. There are specific vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids and herbs along with specific enzymes and whole food extracts that help the body normalize cholesterol levels, with higher HDL and lower LDL, and at the same time stop the plaque from accumulating and remove any plaque that has already developed. It has been known for years that there are countries all over the world that don't have the problem with heart disease that Americans have. One example is the Eskimos of Alaska and Canada. It was not unusual, fifty years ago, for them to live over 100 years even though they ate a diet very high in animal fat and cholesterol. They also ate two too three tablespoons of salt every day and added butter to their foods as often as possible. As they changed their diet to that of the standard in America they developed the same disorders and interestingly about the same length of life.
