Boosting the Childs Immune System
Doctors are simply trained to treat the symptoms; it's up to you to correct the cause of the problem. I know you are thinking, what kind of opening is that? Of course most people know that drugs never solve problems they simply cover up symptoms. Well Roy, what about antibiotics? Antibiotics are prescribed only to treat bacteria, not virus, the underlying culprit of most colds, flu and many other diseases. It's important to ask why the bacteria, germ or virus was able to get a hold on you in the first place? Your immune system must have been in a weakened condition for any pathogen to have survived and reproduced. When and if that happens, then and only then, should antibiotics be considered.
How Fever Helps Boost a Child's Immune System
It's important for us to realize that a fever is your body attempting to kill the pathogens, which are very sensitive to temperature change. One or two degrees of increased body temperature will, in most cases, do the job. Of course, you should not allow a fever to last for any lengthy period of time because of possible brain damage. However a temperature of 102 or even 103 will not do harm for a couple of hours. Give your body the opportunity to do its job first and be prepared to contact your doctor if the fever persists or moves above 103. A fever is not necessarily a bad thing.
Boosting The Child's Immune System With Mother's Milk
Our children's immune systems are being developed from the day they are born. When a newborn baby drinks his or her mother's first milk, called colostrum, the mother is passing the immunities she has developed during her lifetime on to her child. If the mother was breast-fed then she is passing her mothers immune system on as well. If the child catches a germ or virus, which his or her immune system doesn't recognize, the child's body will begin a defense process that includes a fever. More macrophage and killer T- cell activity begins. Once the pathogen has been defeated that particular kind of virus, germ or bacteria will not be able to create sickness because the immune system has learned to recognize and kill it before it has a chance to proliferate. It's important to allow your child's immune system to learn how to protect itself.
